Job Description

The Banking and International Controls team supports and promotes a robust control environment within Banking and International globally, ensuring that all applicable internal policies and external regulations are adopted through effective and sustainable processes. The team sits within the 1st line of defence and provides direct oversight over the key operational and conduct risks of the business by overseeing processes and controls related to transaction approvals, Information Management, Client Monitoring, Client Complaints and Employee Supervision and Training. Conduct Risk Analyst plays a central role in shaping and sustaining the Conduct Risk programme within Banking and International (B&I), working directly alongside the Conduct Risk Lead to ensure robust day-to-day oversight across the business. This is a strategic position that sits at the intersection of risk management, stakeholder engagement, and programme delivery.

Job Responsibility

  • Monitor and track key Conduct Risk metrics using technology and reporting tools, translating data into clear outputs that inform decision-making across the business
  • Conduct qualitative analysis of Conduct Risk data to identify trends, emerging issues, and areas requiring escalation or remediation
  • Manage the identification and oversight of Conflicts of Interest within B&I, supporting the integrity of the control environment
  • Manage the coordination of client complaints, ensuring timely oversight, consistent handling, and appropriate resolution tracking
  • Draft and distribute internal communications on Conduct Risk, culture, and control topics to raise awareness and promote consistent standards across the organisation
  • Coordinate internal and external reviews, support issue remediation efforts, and manage associated administrative requirements
  • Specific responsibility for programmatic oversight of key regulatory compliance risks
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives in collaboration with B&I senior management, B&I Controls teams, and 2nd and 3rd partners
  • Develop, maintain and update Conduct Risk procedure documents, ensuring content remains current, accurate, and aligned with regulatory and policy requirements
  • Design and deliver training materials on regulatory, policy, and process changes, managing the rollout of training programs to B&I staff

Requirements

  • 3-7 years relevant work experience in an auditing, risk management or another oversight, monitoring function in the Financial Industry
  • Previous experience in corporate/investment banking and/or capital markets is a plus
  • Ability to contribute to the development and implementation of strategy and process improvement initiatives
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • The successful candidate will have a university degree and/or demonstrated experience in risk & control role
  • Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to see the big pictures with high attention to critical details
  • Ability to demonstrate presence and professionalism – particularly in critical, intense situations
  • Good organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to partner efficiently within team environments and as an individual contributor
  • Ability to adapt to new technology and applications (e.g., MS365, Tableau)

  • Monitoring of Control Performance: Actively oversee the implementation and continuous performance of all controls, with particular attention to those related to Tier I and Tier II regulations. Proactively identify control gaps and ensure adherence to established regulations and internal policies/standards, providing a consolidated view of control execution
  • Conduct or coordinate detailed assessments of regulatory controls, analyzing their mapping to specific regulatory requirements and obligations
  • Identify and document control gaps, overlaps, and inefficiencies, focusing on consistency and effectiveness across various regulatory domains
  • Collaborate with control owners to ensure accurate and comprehensive control inventories
  • Perform root cause analysis to identify underlying drivers of control weaknesses, including process failures, technology limitations, human error, and design deficiencies
  • Control Oversight & Governance: Provide centralized oversight of overall control administration activities and performance. Diligently track the performance of various control types (Common, TRC, RCO) and control attributes, including mapping across business units. This is crucial for assessing risk exposure and ensuring ongoing compliance with all pertinent regulatory requirements from an integrated perspective
  • Develop recommendations for control enhancements and remediation actions, ensuring sustainable improvements
  • Support the development and implementation of automated tools and methodologies for prioritizing controls based on risk levels and design effectiveness
