BMT is a leading global consultancy in design, engineering, science, and risk management in the maritime sector, known for excellence and innovation. We are expanding our HSEQ Team and are looking for someone with experience in HSEQ compliance auditing and document control to join us. The IMS/HSEQ Coordinator role provides experienced, hands-on leadership in the implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of the organisation’s Integrated Management System (IMS) aligned to ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management). The role has a strong focus on planning and conducting internal audits, supporting external certification audits, coordinating corrective actions and providing practical HSEQ support across the business, when needed.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain and refine HSEQ policies, procedures, and documentation, ensuring accuracy and consistency across platforms
Deliver management system training and communications, simplifying complex requirements for leaders and teams
Develop, maintain, and distribute controlled documents in partnership with Document Owners
Oversee document control and continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining alignment with global and third‑party accreditation requirements
Manage quality assurance, non-conformances, and corrective actions and verify their effectiveness
Prepare the business for external ISO certification and surveillance audits, partnering with operational leaders to ensure readiness and compliance
Plan and deliver risk-based internal audits, manage findings in myOSH (BMT’s online risk management and corrective action platform), and ensure timely close-out of actions. Providing executive summaries of audit results for senior leadership teams
Supporting Health & Safety initiatives such as managing safety training, developing SWMS and JSAs, and supporting with Health & Safety communications
Requirements:
A WHS qualification
Internal lead auditing experience / qualification
Strong auditing knowledge and experience in risk-based audits, compliance, and continuous improvement
Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage time and workload effectively
Experience in preparing for and participating in ISO certifications for ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001
Understanding of WHS and Environmental legislation, quality management systems, risk management principles, and ISO system governance
Sound written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills
Excellent reporting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Competence with SharePoint is highly advantageous
