We are seeking an experienced Import Operations Lead to oversee daily import activities, support the Branch Manager, and act as a key operational and cultural bridge between U.S. operations and Asian partners. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-growth, fast-paced environment, is comfortable working with Asian business culture (particularly Chinese), and enjoys leading by example while remaining hands-on with operations.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and oversee daily import operations (air and/or ocean, depending on branch needs)
Serve as the primary operational support to the Branch Manager
Coordinate closely with overseas offices, agents, and vendors in China and across Asia
Ensure timely movement, tracking, and delivery of import shipments
Monitor documentation accuracy, customs compliance, and internal SOPs
Troubleshoot operational issues and proactively resolve delays or exceptions
Support workflow optimization as business volume continues to scale
Guide, mentor, and support operational staff within the 15-person branch
Act as a cultural liaison, ensuring clear communication and alignment with Asian business practices
Assist with reporting, KPI tracking, and process improvements as needed
Requirements:
3+ years of experience in import operations within freight forwarding or logistics
Proven experience working with Asian-based companies or overseas partners, ideally Chinese-based
Strong understanding of international shipping processes, documentation, and compliance
Comfortable working in a growth-stage environment with evolving processes
Leadership mindset with the ability to influence without heavy hierarchy
Strong communication skills

Detail-oriented, organized, and solution-driven
Nice to have:
Mandarin or Cantonese language skills
Prior experience acting as a lead, supervisor, or senior operations team member
