We are looking for an experienced Immigration Paralegal to join a legal team in Los Angeles, California on a Contract basis. This role supports attorneys with a diverse caseload involving humanitarian and family-based immigration matters, while helping keep filings, records, and case activity organized and on schedule. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, client-focused, and comfortable working with legal documentation, court-related deadlines, and case management systems in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility
Prepare and submit affirmative immigration matters, including asylum applications, T visas, U visas, and family-based petitions
Organize case materials and review supporting records to assist attorneys in getting matters ready for immigration hearings
Draft legal paperwork such as motions, pleadings, declarations, and other supporting documents for submission to the appropriate immigration authorities and courts
Track important filing dates, hearings, and internal milestones to help ensure all case deadlines are met
Interview clients to gather detailed background information and supporting facts needed for declarations, applications, and evidence packages
Coordinate with clients, court personnel, witnesses, and subject matter experts to collect documents and case-related information
Maintain consistent communication with clients and legal team members regarding outstanding items, case progress, and next steps
Keep case files, status updates, and reporting records accurate, current, and well documented in relevant systems
Provide day-to-day administrative and case support to attorneys, including work performed in Microsoft Office and case management platforms such as Legal Server and immigration e-filing tools when applicable
Requirements
At least 2 years of experience supporting immigration law matters in a paralegal or similar legal support capacity
Working knowledge of affirmative immigration filings, including asylum, T visa, U visa, and family-based visa matters
Experience preparing legal documents and supporting attorneys with hearing preparation, motion practice, or brief development
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active cases, deadlines, and document-heavy workflows
Ability to conduct client interviews professionally and gather accurate, detailed information for case development
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
familiarity with Legal Server and immigration e-service platforms is preferred
Background using case management software and supporting litigation or trial preparation activities is highly valued
