Job Description:

We offer commercial analytical lab chemistry testing for food and drink, including: nutritional and health, microscopy, biochemistry, allergens, chromatography, packaging, cereals and ingredients, and wines and spirits. You will be contributing to the growth and reputation of the organisation by delivering accurate, timely and cost-effective analytical solutions. This includes developing new methodologies, improving existing processes, and ensuring analytical instrumentation operates efficiently and compliantly. The role focuses on inorganic and elemental analysis, supporting a wide range of food and beverage industry requirements. It covers method development, validation, troubleshooting, and the application of advanced analytical techniques, alongside ensuring compliance with industry standards and quality systems.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Chemical or Analytical Sciences, with a minimum of 5 years’ relevant post-graduate experience (or equivalent).
  • Strong technical expertise in ICP-OES and ICP-MS, including maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Proven experience in analytical method development and validation, ideally aligned with ISO 17025 requirements.
  • Good understanding of food science and technology, with experience in the food or beverage industry desirable.
  • Broad knowledge of analytical testing requirements including contaminants, nutrients, and other components relevant to the food sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver technical projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Experience working within accredited laboratory environments and quality systems.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Effective organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A proactive, flexible and problem-solving mindset, with attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.
