Vilamoura International School (CIV) is seeking a Mathematics Teacher, starting in August for the next academic year. The successful candidate will teach Mathematics across Key Stage 3 through to examination classes within our International Curriculum. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and mathematical confidence, fostering intellectual curiosity, resilience, and a growth mindset within an international learning environment.
Job Responsibility:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and rigorous Mathematics lessons across lower and upper secondary levels
Teach across Key Stage 3 and examination classes (e.g. IGCSE, IB Diploma, or equivalent), depending on experience and school needs
Prepare students effectively for internal and external assessments in line with the relevant examination framework
Design and implement formative and summative assessments aligned with international standards
Develop students’ conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, fluency, and problem-solving skills
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and learning profiles
Monitor and support student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to students and parents
Contribute to curriculum development, departmental planning, and continuous improvement initiatives
Promote a positive and challenging classroom environment that supports independence, resilience, and academic integrity
Collaborate with colleagues across departments to promote interdisciplinary learning and international-mindedness
Participate actively in school meetings, events, enrichment activities, and ongoing professional development
Requirements:
A degree in Mathematics or a closely related field
A recognised teaching qualification
Experience teaching Mathematics within an international curriculum (IB Diploma experience highly desirable)
Experience preparing students for external examinations (e.g. IB, IGCSE, A Level, or equivalent)
Strong subject knowledge across a range of secondary Mathematics topics
A commitment to inquiry-based, student-centred learning
Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom management skills
The ability to inspire and motivate students within a multicultural, international environment
A collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to wider school life
High professional standards, integrity, and commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
Nice to have:
Experience with the IB Diploma Programme is highly desirable
Experience in other international frameworks (e.g. Cambridge IGCSE/A Level or equivalent)
