Job Description:

Our client, Queensland Bakery Company, is a long-established, family-owned bakery business renowned for producing a wide range of high-quality baked goods. Supplying customers across the UK, they take pride in combining traditional craftsmanship with modern production standards to ensure the highest levels of product quality, consistency, and food safety. They are now seeking an experienced and proactive Hygiene Team Leader to support the ongoing delivery of excellence across their manufacturing operations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of hygiene operatives to ensure cleaning standards meet site and regulatory requirements
  • Organise daily and weekly cleaning schedules, allocating tasks and monitoring completion through inspections and verification checks
  • Oversee hygiene operations across production, packaging, and storage areas, including deep cleans and allergen changeovers
  • Maintain hygiene documentation, ensuring compliance with HACCP, BRC, and GMP standards
  • Manage stock and safe use of cleaning chemicals, ensuring full COSHH compliance
  • Conduct hygiene audits and inspections, identifying corrective and preventive actions
  • Support training, competency checks, and ongoing development of team members
  • Promote a strong safety culture across the site, encouraging best practice and accountability
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a hygiene or sanitation leadership role within food manufacturing (bakery experience desirable)
  • Sound understanding of food safety management systems, including HACCP and BRC standards
  • Strong knowledge of COSHH and chemical safety management
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
  • Able to work flexibly across shifts when required
  • A proactive, hands-on leader with a positive approach to maintaining high standards
