Hydrant Maintenance Technician

• Inspection and routine maintenance of fire hydrants located within the public highway
• Assess the condition and accessibility of fire hydrants
• Carry out visual checks
• Ensure hydrants are fully operational using appropriate equipment
• Identify and report faults or defects in line with service procedures
• Support the delivery of the hydrant inspection programme across existing infrastructure and new developments
• Operate a service vehicle
• Work outdoors
• Update records and report defects using the digital Water Management System
• Liaise professionally with contractors, fire service personnel, and members of the public

• Previous experience working within or around the public highway
• Strong understanding of health and safety, including risk assessment
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Good written communication skills
• Confidence in the use of hand tools and basic testing equipment
• Ability to work independently in a busy outdoor environment
• Ability to travel between locations
• Willingness to start early to meet team needs
• Willingness to work four Sunday mornings per year
