A manufacturing facility in Kanata has an exceptional opportunity for you to step into a full-time, unionized Hybrid Machinist/Maintenance Technician role within a highly stable and clean work environment. This is a unique hybrid machining and maintenance position where 50% of your time will involve machining critical components for the medical industry using CNC mills and manual machines, while the other 50% will be spent troubleshooting and repairing mechanical issues on CNC machines, hydraulic/pneumatic cylinders, and PLCs. The position offers a competitive salary of $72,000–$90,000 annually ($35–$43/hr) along with comprehensive medical and dental coverage, paid vacation, and a company pension plan. We are seeking a candidate with at least 3 years of CNC machining experience and a great attitude, while any previous exposure to mechanical maintenance or building machinery is considered a major asset but not a firm requirement.
Job Responsibility
Setup and operate a 3-axis CNC mill utilizing Siemens controls to produce one-off prototype components in Kanata
Program machining paths from start to finish utilizing Bobcad Cam software for precise manufacturing operations
Rebuild pneumatic cylinders, service hydraulic systems, and perform light TIG welding to tack components together
Wear protective hazmat suits and respirators a few times per month to perform mechanical maintenance duties around specialized materials
Requirements
3 to 4 years of professional experience as a CNC machinist or a mixed background in machining and maintenance
Proficiency in reading blueprints, utilizing right-angle trigonometry, and calculating standard speed and feed formulas
Diploma in CNC machining or industrial maintenance, or possess equivalent practical experience in the trade
Comply with site safety protocols by remaining open to shaving facial hair periodically for proper respirator seal adjustments
