The HVAC Technician plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and well-functioning living, learning, and working environment for Kansas State University students, residents, faculty, staff, and guests. This position works as part of a skilled team responsible for servicing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing air conditioning and refrigeration systems for Housing and Dining Services.
Job Responsibility:
Diagnose and repair commercial refrigeration and cooling equipment, including walk-in freezers, upright and chest refrigerators, ice machines, milk and ice cream machines, and water coolers
Perform preventive maintenance on complex systems such as chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, vacuum pumps, and related controls within large residence hall complexes
Install, service, and maintain HVAC, air conditioning, heat pump, and energy management systems across residence halls and foodservice facilities
Service electrical and plumbing components associated with refrigeration and air conditioning systems
Maintain accurate records, organize tools, and actively contribute as an engaged and productive team member
Requirements:
Requires two years of relevant experience
Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by a hiring manager
Knowledge of tools, equipment and materials used in trade
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
4 years experience at the journeyman level
Ability to provide a high level of customer service
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
EPA Universal refrigerant certificate upon employment
Prefer Journeyman Mechanical License
Valid drivers license
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship
