Job Responsibility
Conduct scheduled inspections of HVAC systems to ensure absolute reliability and compliance with NSW and Australian Standards
Diagnose and fix faults across chillers, split systems, packaged units, and ducted systems with minimal disruption to council operations
Install, upgrade, or replace systems and components using industry best practices
Actively identify opportunities for energy savings and recommend eco-friendly, efficient system upgrades
Maintain strict adherence to Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws and environmental regulations
Keep precise service logs, compliance reports, and safety documentation
Provide critical support during HVAC emergencies as part of a shared on-call roster
Requirements
Trade Qualification: Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (or equivalent nationally recognized qualification)
Full ARCtick Refrigerant Handling Licence
NSW Restricted Electrical Licence (for Air Conditioning and Refrigeration) or a full Electrical Licence
Current NSW Class C Driver's Licence
Valid NSW White Card (Construction Induction)
Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in the HVAC industry, with a heavy focus on commercial or public sector environments
Proven experience maintaining and repairing chillers, split systems, packaged units, and ducted systems
Clear history of complying with SafeWork NSW and modern WHS legislation
Nice to have
NSW Gas Work Licence
Familiarity or experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) for HVAC monitoring
Training/certification in energy-efficient HVAC systems or sustainable technologies
