Job Responsibility:
Operation, maintenance, service and installation of building HVAC and mechanical systems
Within the limits of the required certifications, performs or arranges all tests, maintenance, repairs and replacement of all associated equipment that relates to HVAC, electrical systems, emergency power systems, fire alarm systems
Obtain HVAC permits as required
Estimate costs of modifications and or new installations
Provide necessary liaison with Facility and contractor personnel
Review and inspect work by contractors
Direct, train and/or assist lower classified employees in all phases of HVAC and electromechanically work
Perform general Facilities work as required
Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill in painting, carpentry, masonry, lock repair, grounds keeping
Provide assistance during Facility emergencies
Complete all tests, logs, inspections and maintain the necessary documentation to assure that the company is in compliance with legislative, safety, environment and hazardous waste codes
Requirements:
DC Master Refrigeration And Air Conditioning Mechanic DC
DC Class 3 - Steam and Hot Water Heating Boiler Engineer
MD Grade 3 - Stationary Engineer
Universal CFC Certificate
FERC and NERC certification
Possess demonstrated ability and experience as a Journeyman HVAC Repairman for 5 years
Possess demonstrated ability and experience as a Building Engineer or Electrician “A”
Ability to follow company Safety guidelines policies and procedures
Valid driver license
Ability to write, speak, read, comprehend and communicate clearly and accurately with the English language
Possess demonstrated ability and experience using tools in the performance of painting, carpentry, masonry, lock repair, grounds keeping
Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, modify and correct blue prints, schematics, sketches and diagrams
Possess knowledge of computer use (e.g. word processing, e-mail and spreadsheet software)
Pass any Company required tests/assessments and meets other screening requirements
Able to work overtime, including callout, consistent with the Labor Agreement
Possess High School Diploma or GED or Trade School Diploma
Possess 5 years’ combination of education and experience
Nice to have:
Able to perform indoor and outdoor work in hot and cold temperatures
Able to work in enclosed spaces, on or around energized equipment
work in dirty, dusty and low light areas
Able to use both hands and arms simultaneously
Able to work while squatting, bending, twisting, kneeling or standing for extended periods
Able to climb ladders or structures, lift and carry 50 pounds and possess a high degree of manual dexterity
Pass a hearing test in the audible range with or without a hearing device
Possess 20/20 vision or corrected 20/20 vision
Pass a color vision test. Will have to be able to distinguish color coded wiring in equipment
Regularly required to walk, stand
