Amentum is seeking an HVAC Technician IV to join our team in Decatur, IL! Typical work schedule is Variable 6a to 2:30P; hours may vary based on business demand. Weekend hours may be scheduled to support our 24/7 operation. The HVAC Technician is responsible for maintaining the company’s buildings, facilities, and equipment in an operating and functional condition. This will include but not limited to refrigeration repairs, troubleshooting, and air handler maintenance and repairs. Duties may include any of the following: electrical repairs or installations, plumbing, welding, machine servicing, and general mechanical maintenance (e.g. Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning or HVAC and sheet metal).
Job Responsibility:
Under general supervision, reveals mastery of advanced duties of a specialized/technical nature
Encounters diverse problems that require thorough analysis
Diagnoses, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs heating and ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, compressors, and other mechanical equipment as necessary
Utilizes strong mechanical and electrical skills to complete assignments
Performs preventive maintenance on HVAC control and operating systems as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Responds and provides service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations, and industry standards
Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance
Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems
Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required
Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations
Coordinates work with outside contractors
Assures code and building standards are met
Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested
Perform other duties as assigned in non position duties as needed to support clients needs
Requirements:
High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent
5 years of experience in area of specialization
Must have EPA 608 Universal Certificate
Must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
May require a valid Driver’s License
Ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location
Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift
Flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift
Use of various man lifting devices to reach work area
Ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift
Ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift
Ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift
Ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift
Use of a Company/Client approved utility knife
Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding
Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement
Ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress
Use of aerial lifting equipment
Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed
Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment
