Job Description

Amentum is seeking an HVAC Technician III to join our team in East Peoria, IL! Typical work schedule 8:30AM-5:00PM hours and overtime may vary based on business demand. Rotating weekend on call hours will be scheduled to support the client.

Job Responsibility

  • Maintain buildings, facilities, and equipment in operating and functional condition
  • Refrigeration repairs, troubleshooting, and air handler maintenance and repairs
  • Electrical repairs or installations, plumbing, welding, machine servicing, and general mechanical maintenance
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair heating and ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, compressors, and other mechanical equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC control and operating systems as scheduled in CMMS
  • Recommend measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance
  • Analyze and resolve work problems
  • Safely perform functions including following safety guidelines and wearing PPE
  • Understand company policies and enforce safety regulations
  • Coordinate work with outside contractors
  • Assure code and building standards are met
  • Serve as a resource to others in resolution of complex problems
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent
  • 3 years of experience in area of specialization
  • Must have EPA 608 Universal Certificate
  • Must be able to work out of an aerial lift 30ft or higher
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to obtain a security access badge
  • Must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift
  • Flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift
  • Ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift
  • Ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift
  • Ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift
  • Ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift
  • Use of a Company/Client approved utility knife
  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding
  • Repetitive wrist movement
  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other PPE
  • Must be willing to work overtime when required
  • May be required to work holidays and weekends

  • Learn to perform FAI/CVI (Annual) (First Article Inspection - Commercial Vehicle Inspection) inspections on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, light-duty vehicles, and any other company-owned equipment under the guidance of fleet technician II & III or fleet supervisor or manager in accordance with all federal, state and local legal and regulatory agencies. (Includes all state-required inspections and frequencies)
  • Learn to perform quality preventive maintenance inspections per company methods under the guidance of fleet technician II & III, fleet supervisor or manager on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, lift-gates, light-duty vehicles, and any other company-owned equipment
  • Learn to perform quality maintenance repairs under the guidance of fleet technician II & III or fleet supervisor or manager as required to maximize safety and reliability on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, lift-gates, light-duty vehicles, and any company-owned equipment
  • Learn to perform maintenance repairs on all vehicles under the guidance of fleet technician II & III or fleet supervisor or managers such as inspections, scheduled repairs, malfunctions and road-call repairs in a safe, efficient, timely and quality manner
  • Address all driver vehicle inspection report write-ups timely, efficiently and correctly the first time under the guidance of fleet technician II & III or fleet supervisor or manager
  • Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repairs to manufacturer specifications including but not limited to engines, transmissions and clutches, drive-line, differential, steering and suspension, fuel and ignition system, exhaust systems (including regeneration systems), intake systems, electrical systems, brake systems, HVAC systems and lift-gate hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems under the guidance of fleet technician II & III or fleet supervisor or manager
