Under general supervision of the Shop Foreman or designee, the HVAC Services Technician performs skilled, craftsman-level work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and refrigeration systems across hospital and university facilities. This role is responsible for diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, responding to service calls, and ensuring all systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards. The technician plays a critical role in maintaining environmental control necessary for patient care and is designated as essential personnel during emergencies or disasters.
Job Responsibility
Performs installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems
Diagnoses mechanical and electrical issues
Responds to service calls
Ensures systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards
Conducts preventive maintenance inspections
Installs new equipment
Documents all maintenance activities
Participates in on-call rotation
Weekend shifts
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of three (3) years of experience
EPA Universal Certification required
Nice to have
Technical training, certifications, or education related to HVAC, building systems, or mechanical trades
Refrigerant and CFC certification
Knowledge of Building Codes, National Fire Codes, and Joint Commission standards
