Airworx Air Conditioning is a leading HVAC specialist company delivering high-quality air-conditioning, mechanical ventilation, installation, service and maintenance solutions across residential, commercial and industrial sectors. On behalf of the company, we are seeking an experienced HVAC Mechanical Engineer to contribute to our expanding pipeline of mechanical and air-conditioning projects throughout Sydney.

Job Responsibility

  • Review and analyse project documentation, technical drawings, functional statements and workflows to determine engineering requirements for HVAC systems
  • Evaluate operational processes to identify efficiencies, areas of duplication and improvements for labour and equipment utilisation
  • Conduct work measurement studies to establish performance benchmarks for technicians, equipment users and installation timelines
  • Analyse workforce utilisation, site layouts, project schedules and cost data to optimise the use of labour, tools and HVAC systems on job sites
  • Design HVAC mechanical systems, including ductwork layouts, ventilation systems, air-conditioning units, chilled-water systems and mechanical components
  • Develop engineering specifications for HVAC manufacture, installation, piping, material flow, equipment selection, system capacities and layout of mechanical services
  • Organise and coordinate project labour, delivery of materials, tools, plant and equipment, ensuring timely project execution
  • Establish engineering standards, installation procedures, testing protocols, commissioning processes, quality controls and safety compliance requirements
  • Perform site inspections, testing and performance assessments to ensure HVAC systems meet engineering design and regulatory standards
  • Oversee maintenance planning and scheduling, coordinating engineering input for new designs, upgrades, surveys and system maintenance programs

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in HVAC or mechanical services engineering
  • Strong understanding of Australian HVAC standards, BCA/NCC requirements and mechanical codes
  • Experience in designing ducted systems, ventilation layouts or air-conditioning systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and prepare engineering documentation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
