Job Responsibility:
Carry out hands-on modification, construction, and maintenance of HVAC test rigs across a range of disciplines, including metalwork, timber fabrication, plumbing, and electrical wiring (power, communications, and instrumentation)
Interpret and work from technical and schematic drawings to build, adapt, and optimise test setups
Support the delivery of experimental and testing programmes by setting up, operating, and adjusting equipment to meet project requirements
Diagnose faults, troubleshoot issues, and implement practical engineering solutions to ensure reliable system performance
Record, analyse, and report test data, contributing to technical documentation and project outputs
Collaborate with engineering teams to develop and improve testing methodologies and rig capabilities
Maintain workshop, tools, and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
Requirements:
Practical experience and/or demonstrable practical aptitude and interest in application of scientific and engineering principles to solving practical problems
Ability to work unsupervised across a very wide range of disciplines, building rigs
metalwork & timber fabrication, wiring
power, communication & instrumentation, and plumbing
Ability to both understand technical drawings and to work from and interpret schematic drawings
Self-motivated and focussed, but also having the ability to work in a team
Nice to have:
Proficient in use of MS Office software for reports, data analysis and presentations
Experience of working in a building-services engineering related environment such as contracting, installation or commercial consultancy
Experience of computer programming using a high-level language for numerical analysis, data acquisition or control
