As an HVAC Building Engineer, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems in commercial or residential properties. You'll ensure all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other crucial systems function efficiently and safely. This role requires technical expertise across multiple disciplines, troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to maintaining optimal building performance while providing excellent service to tenants and management.
Job Responsibility:
Operating, maintaining, and repairing building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and building automation systems
Conducting preventative maintenance inspections and implementing scheduled maintenance programs
Responding promptly to tenant service requests and building emergencies
Troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical issues across various building systems
Monitoring building energy usage and implementing efficiency measures
Maintaining accurate logs, records, and documentation of all maintenance activities and equipment readings
Coordinating with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or projects
Ensuring compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards
Managing inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment
Requirements:
EPA Universal Certification for refrigerant handling
2-4 years of hands-on experience in building operations and maintenance
Knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, electrical systems, and plumbing
Understanding of building automation systems and controls
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
High school diploma or equivalent
vocational/technical training preferred
Basic computer skills for maintenance management systems and building controls
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
Nice to have:
journeymen's license
Low-pressure or high-pressure boiler operator license (where applicable)
Certifications in specific building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing)
Experience with energy management and sustainability practices
Knowledge of building codes and safety regulations
Experience with preventative maintenance programs and practices
Familiarity with project management principles for capital improvements
