Job Description

Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Utilities Operations, supervises and coordinates the work of the HVAC, Refrigeration, and Sheetmetal Technicians and Mechanics. The incumbent makes hiring selections, ensures proper training, assigns schedules, directs technician in the installation, repair, and programming of HVAC and Refrigeration equipment. Performs all administrative duties necessary to manage departmental workload assignments, maintain appropriate record keeping of materials, and refrigerant usage, and submit timecards for accurate labor charges. Evaluate employee performance and determines standards for performance.

Job Responsibility

Requirements

  • Solid knowledge and skills in the specialty craft supervised
  • Solid supervisory skills to include organization, scheduling, assigning work and ensuring quality standards are met
  • Solid financial skills to accurately project costs of potential jobs and to consistently complete work within established budgetary and time constraints
  • Skills to actively promote and maintain safety standards
  • Solid skills to effectively select and evaluate staff, and to appropriately handle disciplinary issues
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • EPA 608 Universal Refrigeration License in the HVAC/Refrigeration
  • Required to hold a valid drivers license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
