Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity to join our team in Aldershot as LV/ HV Cable Jointer, you will be responsible for the quality and compliance to standard of workmanship and others working on the project ensuring compliance with authorisation procedures.

Job Responsibility

  • Act in the capacity of Cable Jointer in compliance with Authorisation Procedures and the Electricity Supply Industry
  • Responsible for Electrical Safety Management for any project which they have made safe for others to work upon
  • Operate within the Private and Public Project Network Businesses building strong working relationships
  • Driving positive change across the business and responsible for the Quality and Compliance to Standard of their Workmanship and others
  • Cable Jointing and associated works ensuring programmed works are at the highest Safety Standards
  • Responsible for site safety and work quality and compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through excellent Project delivery compliance with Ipsum processes
  • Manage programmed works to the highest Electrical Safety Management Safety Standards and Environmental Standards
  • Deliver the programmed works at the expected level of quality, performance, safety and cost
  • Site management interface between Customer’s, Staff and other Service Providers
  • Ensuring resolution of Site issues to full project completion

Requirements

  • Technical status and a qualified Electrical Engineer with a HV/LV Jointer Qualification or equivalent
  • Detailed understanding of current HV & LV electrical Jointing techniques from 11kV to 33kV
  • Solid and up to date knowledge of statutory requirements, legislation and technical advances
  • Good knowledge of Health and Safety practice and Risk Assessment processes
  • Experience working in a fast-paced customer facing environment
  • CTC Clearance
  • UK Driving Licence

  • Deliver HV jointing and terminations (typically 11kV and 33kV
  • higher voltages where within company scope) in accordance with manufacturer instructions, DNO standards and project specifications
  • Undertake cable identification and proving/dead checks in line with network rules, including the use of approved identification and spiking/locking-off methods where applicable
  • Support network connection activities including planned outages, commissioning windows, energisations and reconnections, working with Authorised Persons/SAPs and the DNO Control Room interface
  • Interpret and work to drawings (as-built, cable schedules, jointing plans) and ensure accurate as-built redlines for adoption packs
  • Maintain high-quality workmanship including cable preparation, screen handling, moisture control, torque settings, earthing/bonding, sealing and reinstatement readiness
  • Complete quality and test records (e.g., jointing records, pressure tests where applicable, photo evidence, test sheets) to an audit-ready standard
  • Comply with safe systems of work (RAMS, permits, safety documents), and actively contribute to site safety briefings, toolbox talks and hazard reporting
  • Coordinate effectively with civils teams and cable-laying crews to ensure correct installation depth, protection, bending radii, ducting entries and joint bay readiness prior to jointing
