The Opportunity Keyano College’s Huskies Athletics Department is currently seeking an Athletic Therapist to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the General Manager, Huskies Athletics, this role is responsible for supporting the health, safety and performance of student-athletes through education, injury prevention, and medical oversight. This includes delivering off-season educational seminars on common injuries and prevention strategies, maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records using a secure database, and conducting baseline testing and physical fitness assessments for both new and returning athletes. These initiatives help monitor pre-existing conditions, reduce injury risk, and ensure athletes are prepared for demands of their sport.
Job Responsibility:
Facilitate formal education seminars throughout the off season for current and newly recruited varsity athletes, typically beginning in May-July
Performing medical history checks and updating their current records to ensure that changes with the athletes' health at the college are being maintained throughout their time competing at the college
Conducting off-season onboarding documentation and tracking physical fitness and current activity status
Implementing new protocols and procedures to ensure athlete and Keyano personnel safety
Provide virtual care for athletes who are current student/athletes and require communication and updates with myself following an injury
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Therapy, Kinesiology or related field
Certification from a recognized professional organization (e.g., Canadian Athletic Therapist Association – CATA, or equivalent)
Current CPR, First Aid and First Responder certification
Previous experience working as an Athletic Therapist
Experience in a college or university setting is preferred
Experience providing care for multiple sports and athlete populations
Experience in injury prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation
Strong knowledge of athletic therapy techniques and rehabilitation methods
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with athletes, coaches and other healthcare professionals
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong organizational and time management skills
Proficiency in using relevant computer software and record-keeping systems
Nice to have:
Experience in a college or university setting
