This role is perfect for a specialist who enjoys the variety of teaching across the Humanities faculty, delivering engaging lessons that challenge students to think critically about the past, our planet, and the systems of belief that shape society. Starting as soon as possible or in September, this role offers the stability of full-time hours with the flexibility of a long-term temporary contract.
Job Responsibility:
Multi-Disciplinary Delivery: Plan and deliver high-quality lessons across KS3 and KS4, primarily focusing on History, Geography, and RS, ensuring a seamless transition between subject areas
Critical Thinking: Foster an environment where students evaluate evidence, deconstruct historical sources, and debate contemporary geographical and ethical issues with academic rigour
GCSE Preparation: Support Year 11 cohorts in their chosen Humanities disciplines, utilising assessment data to provide targeted feedback and exam-focused interventions
Cultural Literacy: Link classroom topics to current global events, helping students in the diverse Clapham community see the relevance of the Humanities in their daily lives
Collaborative Planning: Work within a supportive department to share resources and contribute to the development of inquiry-based schemes of work
Active Participation: Engage fully in the life of the school, including departmental meetings, parent evenings (where applicable), and the school's pastoral systems
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / QTLS
A degree in History, Geography, Sociology, or a related Humanities subject
The ability to teach at least two of the core Humanities subjects to GCSE level with confidence and accuracy
A proactive approach to behaviour management that builds mutual respect and maintains a high-energy learning environment
The resilience to thrive in a fast-paced South West London school and the flexibility to adjust your teaching style to meet the needs of a diverse student body
An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad)
