Job Description

Humanities Teacher (ECT) – Full-time, long-term supply from September 2026. These long-term supply opportunities are ideal for an Early Career Teacher specialising in Humanities who is looking to gain valuable experience across a range of secondary school settings. This Humanities Teacher (ECT) role offers consistency alongside variety, allowing you to build confidence, refine your practice, and make a meaningful impact while developing your teaching career.

Job Responsibility

  • Plan and deliver engaging Humanities lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 in line with the national curriculum
  • Teach subjects such as history, geography, and related humanities disciplines according to specialism
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports learning and good behaviour
  • Assess pupil progress and adapt lessons to meet a range of abilities and learning needs
  • Maintain clear classroom routines and manage behaviour effectively
  • Work collaboratively with department staff and follow school policies and procedures
  • Contribute to pupils’ academic progress and wider personal development

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status or working towards QTS as an Early Career Teacher
  • A degree or strong subject knowledge in a Humanities specialism
  • Passion for teaching Humanities and inspiring young people
  • Good organisational skills and a proactive, reflective approach to teaching
  • Ability to adapt quickly to different school environments
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
