A growing, non*profit is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to support multiple programs across Minnesota. This role is ideal for a hands‑on HR leader who thrives in complex, people‑centered environments and enjoys developing both leaders and HR team members. This position supports a diverse employee population of approximately 250 employees within a larger, multi‑agency organization. The HR Manager will partner closely with executive and operational leadership to strengthen culture, mitigate risk, and ensure HR practices are compliant, consistent, and effective. The environment is fast‑paced and highly relational — best suited for someone who brings sound judgment, strong employment law knowledge, and the ability to coach leaders through challenging situations.
Job Responsibility:
Act as the primary HR partner for agency leadership, including regular engagement with executive leadership
Align site‑level HR practices with broader organizational policies and objectives
Use data, trends, and workforce insights to proactively address challenges and opportunities
Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders on performance management, corrective action, investigations, leave management, and accommodations
Navigate complex employee relations matters with professionalism, documentation rigor, and consistency
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and regulatory requirements in a highly regulated environment
Lead, mentor, and develop a small HR team (HR Generalists and Assistants)
Delegate effectively while coaching and upskilling team members
Support supervisor development and strengthen leadership capability across the organization
Partner with centralized teams on compensation actions, benefits administration, and recruiting processes
Support talent planning, hiring initiatives, onboarding, and internal development
Contribute to change management, training initiatives, and HR process improvements
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (experience‑based exceptions considered)
5+ years of progressive HR experience with strong generalist depth
Demonstrated experience overseeing and developing at least one HR team member (2+ years)
Strong working knowledge of employment law, compliance, employee relations, and risk mitigation
Ability to travel regularly to sites
Cultural competence and comfort supporting diverse communities and populations
Nice to have:
Prior experience supporting multi‑site or distributed workforces
Experience in highly regulated environments (human services, healthcare, education, or similar)
Exposure to labor‑intensive employee relations work (non‑union)
Experience supporting leaders who manage frontline or service‑based employees
