We are looking for an experienced Human Resources (HR) Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of human resources operations within our organization. This role requires a proactive individual with strong attention to detail and expertise in employee relations, talent management, compliance, and benefits administration. Based in Altadena, California, this position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in both strategic and operational HR functions.
Job Responsibility:
Manage and execute key HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and terminations
Develop and enforce HR policies and procedures that align with organizational goals and legal requirements
Administer union agreements, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining terms and state regulations for journeyman-to-apprentice ratios
Serve as an intermediary between management and union representatives, addressing concerns and fostering communication
Organize and oversee drug testing processes and maintain accurate union reporting, benefits, and wage compliance
Support the resolution of grievances and disciplinary actions in collaboration with management and legal counsel
Coordinate incident investigations and follow-up procedures alongside the Safety Officer to ensure compliance with safety standards and workers' compensation
Partner with department managers to identify staffing needs and oversee full-cycle recruitment for office roles
Direct onboarding, orientation, and training initiatives for both office and field employees
Ensure accurate payroll processing and manage benefits programs, including health, retirement, profit-sharing, and union benefits
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in human resources management or a related role
Strong knowledge of employee relations practices and HR administration
Proficiency in HRIS and other human resources systems
Experience managing compensation, benefits, and payroll functions
Proven ability to handle onboarding and recruitment processes effectively
Familiarity with compliance standards and labor laws, particularly in construction or union environments
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with employees at all levels
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for maintaining accurate records and documentation
