We are looking for a detail-oriented Human Resources (HR) Assistant to support daily HR and payroll activities for a Contract position based in Washington, District of Columbia. This opportunity is well suited for someone starting their HR career who enjoys administrative work, accurate data handling, and employee onboarding support. The role will contribute to hiring coordination, record maintenance, and payroll review while helping the team keep information organized and up to date.
Job Responsibility
Support onboarding activities by preparing and organizing new employee documentation and ensuring required forms are completed accurately
Enter and maintain employee information in HR systems and track candidate screening submissions and results
Review payroll-related records, compare payroll cards against supporting information, and flag discrepancies for follow-up
Input numerical and employee data into the appropriate fields and verify entries for accuracy and completeness
Assist with the administration and tracking of required health screening or COVID-related test documentation
Maintain organized HR files and perform routine document filing to support compliance and record retention
Provide general administrative assistance to the HR team across payroll and personnel processes
Requirements
Exposure to or foundational knowledge of human resources administration
Experience working with HRIS platforms or other data entry systems
Familiarity with onboarding tasks such as preparing new employee paperwork and tracking pre-employment steps
Ability to review screening information and maintain confidential records with discretion
Strong attention to detail when handling payroll data, numeric entries, and employee documentation
Effective organizational skills with the ability to manage filing and routine administrative work
Clear communication skills and a dependable, team-oriented approach
