We are looking for a detail-oriented Part Time Human Resources (HR) Assistant to support daily HR and office operations for a university environment in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This contract opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys helping employees, staying organized, and keeping records accurate while providing a positive experience for staff and visitors. In this role, you will contribute to onboarding activities, maintain personnel information, and assist the HR team with essential administrative coordination.
Job Responsibility
Welcome employees and visitors with a courteous, helpful approach and direct them to the appropriate resources or team members
Handle day-to-day administrative tasks such as organizing files, collecting paperwork, and entering information into internal records
Prepare, review, and organize onboarding documents to support a smooth onboarding experience
Assist with the coordination and setup of orientation sessions, including materials preparation and logistical support
Maintain accurate employee data within the HRIS and update records in a timely manner
Track supplemental compensation paperwork, confirm required approvals are in place, and keep documentation complete
Use Microsoft Excel and Outlook to manage schedules, monitor tracking logs, and support routine communication
Partner with HR staff to respond to employee needs and help complete time-sensitive administrative requests
Requirements
At least 1 year of experience in human resources support, administrative coordination, or a related office environment
Working knowledge of HR administration practices, including recordkeeping and employee documentation
Experience using an HRIS or similar system to enter and maintain personnel information accurately
Familiarity with onboarding processes, including document preparation and support for permanent staff
Ability to interact professionally with employees, visitors, and internal stakeholders
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook for tracking, scheduling, and communication tasks
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage confidential information responsibly

Experience supporting pre-employment screening processing or related pre-employment activities is preferred
