We are looking for a detail-oriented Human Resources (HR) Assistant to support a manufacturing organization in Richmond, Virginia. This Contract position will partner closely with HR leadership and the HR team to maintain accurate employee records, support daily administrative activities, and help improve document organization within HR systems. The ideal candidate is comfortable handling sensitive information, has strong Microsoft Office skills, and can work carefully with a variety of personnel files and onboarding documents.
Job Responsibility:
Support the HR Director and HR Coordinator with day-to-day administrative tasks and employee documentation
Maintain confidential personnel records with a high level of discretion and accuracy
Organize, review, and categorize employee files to ensure records are complete and properly identified
Convert paper or manual employee documents into digital formats and upload them into the payroll system
Assist with onboarding activities, including preparing new employee paperwork and tracking required documentation
Coordinate pre-employment screening records and help monitor completion of pre-employment requirements
Update HR information in internal systems and spreadsheets using Microsoft Office tools
Respond to routine employee inquiries and provide administrative support related to HR processes
Requirements:
Experience supporting human resources administration in an office or corporate environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook
Familiarity with HRIS platforms and electronic employee record management
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism
Strong organizational skills with the ability to distinguish, sort, and maintain multiple file types accurately
Knowledge of onboarding processes, background checks, and general employee relations support
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced setting
