The HR Generalist provides comprehensive support in the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department. This role ensures compliance with employment laws, maintains employee records, administers HR programs, and supports staff and management across all HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits, employee relations, performance management, and training. The HR Generalist acts as a trusted partner and resource for employees while promoting the organization’s mission, values, and culture.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, ensuring timely updates for new hires, terminations, and personnel changes
Maintain organized digital filing systems for employee records, ensuring adherence to document retention policies
Support routine HR transactions such as job title updates, compensation adjustments, and terminations in collaboration with Finance and Payroll
Serve as the primary liaison with the payroll partner to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, including new hire setup and pay adjustments
Preparation and submission of employment verifications, reports, and documentation required
Processing all unemployment claims
Respond promptly to internal and external requests for employment-related information while protecting sensitive employee data
Prepare and manage onboarding documentation for new employees
Ensure compliance with EEO, FLSA, and other state/federal hiring requirements
Prepare and process termination documentation, final pay details, and benefit continuation notices (e.g., COBRA or state equivalents)
Conduct or coordinate exit interviews to gather feedback, identify trends, and support continuous improvement in employee engagement and retention
Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and policy clarifications
Assist in investigating complaints or conflicts in compliance with internal procedures
Support the implementation of employee recognition and help manage the yearly employee recognition awards
Audit personnel files and HRIS data regularly to ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational recordkeeping standards
Coordinate annual performance review cycles and assist managers with documentation
Track mandatory training and professional development participation
Manage administrative tasks such as monitoring the department email inbox, processing department invoices for payment and update HR policies and procedures
Perform other duties as related or assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive HR experience
Working knowledge of employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, Title VII, etc.)
Proficiency in HR Systems (UKG, Workday, Bamboo, etc) and Microsoft Office Suite
Accuracy and timeliness of HR data reporting
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
