The Human Resources Director will be responsible for the Enhanced Protection Services Growth Business Unit (Canine, Executive Protection, and Risk and Advisory Services). The Human Resources Director will operate out of our New York City office and may expect to travel approximately 30% of the time, locally (vehicle travel) and distantly (throughout the assigned region via air travel as required).
Job Responsibility:
Serve as a strategic business partner to the President of Enhanced Protection Services, delivering continuous support and expert guidance to drive informed decision-making
Lead talent development, engagement, and succession planning initiatives, implementing targeted staffing and retention strategies to optimize employee growth, commitment, and long-term retention
Lead and mentor a team of human resources and recruiting professionals by providing coaching, support, and recognition while fostering accountability
Encourage a collaborative and inclusive work environment to promote teamwork, open communication, and professional development
Support the Talent Management process and guide resolution of employee investigations, acting as the company representative in employment-related legal actions under the guidance of the VP of HR
Oversee all aspects of Collective Bargaining Agreements, ensuring compliance with company policies, fostering positive union relations, and managing grievances while training supervisors and managers for consistent policy application
Represent Human Resources and business units on cross-functional team projects, new programs and process improvement as well as Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) integration
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field with a minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible human resources management experience
High school diploma with a minimum of twelve (12) years of progressively responsible human resources management experience
Minimum of seven (7) human resources managerial experience required, including direct responsibility for employee relations, policy and procedure development and administration, workers' compensation and safety program management, and senior level business involvement
Experience with multi-state operations in a highly regulated service industry and/or oversight in organization with high-volume entry-level workforce
Working knowledge of automated payroll/HRIS systems
Strong working knowledge of all labor laws in all states for which incumbent would be responsible (geographic region), as well as extensive knowledge of relevant federal employment laws/regulations, workers' compensation/OSHA procedures and regulations, and discrimination/harassment investigation and defense procedures
Proven ability to take initiative, prioritize multiple competing tasks, and manage deadlines effectively
Outstanding oral and written communication skills
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage professionally at all levels, effectively de-escalate tense situations, and collaborate as a team player across the organization and with clients
Ability to articulate policies and procedures in a clear, concise manner
Nice to have:
MBA or advanced HR-related degree
Professional Human Resources certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, GPHR)
Prior work experience liaising with union representatives and managing a workforce under a Collective Bargaining Agreement
