We are seeking an experienced and highly strategic Human Resources Director to serve as the head of our HR department. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for driving HR strategy, ensuring compliance, and building a high-performing, engaged workforce. The ideal candidate is decisive, confident, and able to provide actionable guidance to senior management while managing a growing HR team.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and manage the HR department (team of 7)
Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management, providing clear recommendations and rationale for HR initiatives
Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals
Ensure compliance with California employment laws and regulations, as well as applicable union agreements
Oversee all HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, benefits administration, and talent development
Partner with leadership to foster a positive organizational culture and support workforce engagement and retention initiatives
Own HR decision-making and accountability

Requirements:
6+ years of HR Director-level experience
Strong background in California HR practices and compliance
Proven experience in the nonprofit sector
Experience working in a unionized environment
Demonstrated ability to make strategic HR decisions and provide actionable recommendations to leadership
Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage and develop a diverse HR team
