Robert Half is partnering with a well‑established distribution company in downtown Fort Wayne to hire an experienced Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) for a contract engagment. This role provides critical coverage during a leave of absence and requires a hands‑on HR professional with strong business partnership skills and benefits administration knowledge. The ideal candidate is proactive, collaborative, and confident supporting leaders and employees in a fast‑paced, operations‑driven environment.
Job Responsibility:
Strategic HR Partnership Serve as the HR point of contact for managers and employees across distribution and warehouse operations
Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, coaching, and policy interpretation
Partner with leadership to support workforce planning, scheduling, staffing needs, and labor optimization
Support change management, communication, and engagement initiatives
Benefits Administration (Knowledge Required) Assist employees with benefit questions, enrollment processes, and life event updates
Support coordination with benefit carriers and payroll for accurate deductions and eligibility
Help facilitate open enrollment activities and communication
Assist with benefits audits, COBRA processes, and compliance tracking
Employee Relations & Compliance Conduct investigations and document findings in accordance with company policy and employment law
Monitor FMLA, ADA, LOA requests, and other state/federal leave programs
Ensure HR practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations
Maintain accurate and confidential employee files and HR records
Talent & Workforce Support Collaborate with hiring managers on recruiting needs for both hourly and salaried roles
Support onboarding and new‑hire orientation
Assist with training coordination, safety initiatives, and workforce development programs
HR Operations & Reporting Maintain HRIS records, process employee changes, and ensure data integrity
Prepare HR reports such as headcount, turnover, attendance, and labor metrics
Identify trends and provide data‑driven recommendations to leadership
Requirements:
4+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in distribution, logistics, or manufacturing
Working knowledge of benefits administration
Strong understanding of employment laws (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, OSHA)
Experience supporting hourly/shift‑based teams strongly preferred
Excellent communication, conflict‑resolution, and relationship‑building skills
Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office
Strong judgment, confidentiality, and ability to work independently
