Tess Gilmore with Robert Half is looking for an experienced and strategic Human Resources Business Partner to join her client’s team in Rochester, New York. In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor to leadership, supporting business objectives through effective people strategies, employee relations, and HR program execution. Job Responsibility:
Serve as a strategic partner to managers and leadership, providing guidance on HR policies, employee relations, performance management, and workforce planning
Support and drive talent management initiatives, including performance reviews, succession planning, and employee development programs
Advise leaders on employee relations matters, conducting investigations and resolving concerns in a fair, consistent, and compliant manner
Partner with management on employee engagement, culture initiatives, and change management efforts
Assist with the implementation and interpretation of HR policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with employment laws and internal standards
Collaborate with recruiting teams and leaders to support workforce planning, hiring strategies, and onboarding efforts
Analyze HR metrics and trends to provide insights and recommendations that support business decisions
Support compensation, performance, and career development conversations in alignment with organizational goals
Work cross‑functionally with HR Centers of Excellence (Compensation, Talent, HR Operations) to deliver consistent and effective HR support
Promote a positive, inclusive, and high‑performing work environment aligned with company values
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required
HR certifications such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM‑CP, or SHRM‑SCP preferred
5+ years of progressive human resources experience, with direct experience functioning in an HR Business Partner or strategic HR role
Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and compliance requirements at the federal and state level
Proven experience advising managers and leaders on employee relations, performance management, and workforce planning matters
Ability to analyze HR data and metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities and provide actionable recommendations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build trust at all levels of the organization
Experience supporting change management initiatives and driving employee engagement and retention efforts
Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and professionalism
Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing business needs
