We are looking for a detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant to support daily HR operations for a manufacturing organization in Richmond, Virginia. This is a Contract position that will work closely with HR leadership and provide hands-on assistance with employee documentation, onboarding coordination, and records management. The ideal candidate is comfortable handling sensitive information, highly proficient with Microsoft Office tools, and able to maintain organized and accurate personnel files.
Job Responsibility
Support the HR Director and HR Coordinator with administrative activities related to employee records and day-to-day human resources operations
Maintain strict confidentiality while processing personnel documents and handling sensitive employee information
Organize, review, and categorize employee files to ensure records are complete, accurate, and easy to retrieve
Digitize and upload employee documentation into the company payroll and HR records system with a high level of accuracy
Assist with onboarding tasks, including preparing paperwork and helping new employee documentation move through the required steps
Coordinate pre-employment screening documentation and help track completion of pre-employment requirements
Use Microsoft Office applications to create, update, and manage spreadsheets, documents, and HR-related reports
Provide general support for employee relations activities by helping maintain documentation and responding to routine administrative requests
Requirements
Experience supporting HR administration in a detail-oriented office or manufacturing environment
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Familiarity with HRIS platforms and electronic employee record management
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
Experience assisting with onboarding processes and employment documentation
Understanding of candidate screening coordination and related HR compliance tasks
Strong organizational skills with the ability to distinguish between file types and maintain accurate records
