We are looking for a detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant to support day-to-day HR operations in Virginia. This contract position will focus on employee onboarding, follow-up communication, and administrative coordination that helps keep HR processes accurate and on schedule. The ideal candidate is organized, responsive, and comfortable working with HR systems such as Paylocity while handling sensitive employee information with professionalism.
Job Responsibility
Guide new hires through onboarding steps, ensuring required documents and tasks are completed accurately and on time
Use Paylocity to manage employee records, track outstanding onboarding items, and maintain organized HR documentation
Contact employees directly to follow up on incomplete forms, missing information, and pending pre-employment requirements
Coordinate scheduling related to onboarding activities, HR meetings, and other personnel-related appointments
Prepare, organize, and maintain confidential HR files and administrative records in accordance with company procedures
Assist with pre-employment screening processing and monitor status updates to support timely hiring decisions
Complete and submit unemployment claim documentation while ensuring responses are thorough and properly documented
Provide general HR administrative support, including responding to routine inquiries and helping maintain efficient department workflows
Requirements
Experience supporting human resources administration in a fast-paced office environment
Hands-on proficiency with Paylocity is required
Working knowledge of HRIS platforms and the ability to maintain accurate employee data
Experience assisting with onboarding, employee follow-up, and personnel documentation
Familiarity with background checks, unemployment claims, and general HR compliance processes
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Effective verbal and written communication skills when interacting with employees and internal stakeholders
