As our Human Resource Advisor, you will provide professional HR advice and support to managers and staff across the college. You will be responsible for handling employee relations, recruitment processes, general administration and HR policies, ensuring compliance with employment law and best practices.
Job Responsibility:
Act as the first point of contact for HR queries from staff and managers
Provide advice on HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation
Support the management of employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, and absence management, and lead on absence management 1st stage formal meetings
Lead on the HR elements of recruitment and selection processes, ensuring compliance with college policies
Provide regular communication relating to recruitment activity and onboarding to recruiting managers
Ensure all onboarding documentation is sent to successful applicants, including accurate letters and an employment contract issued prior to date of commencement
Maintain accurate HR records, ensure trackers remain live documents, and support HR systems administration
Contribute to the development and implementation of HR policies and initiatives
Support HR projects such as wellbeing initiatives, equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) programmes, and learning and development activities
Secures temporary agency cover for short term needs and logs appropriately
Work closely with line managers to provide guidance on performance management and probation reviews
Complete relevant administrative work including but not limited to employment letters, PTR trackers and documentation, absence management, Authority to appoint documentation
Update absence notifications and return to work notifications, highlighting individuals who have hit trigger points within policy
Update personnel accounts on all relevant systems, and payroll reflects the current position of all employees
Support the HRBP during Heads of Institute meetings, and act as lead (with support) for Institutes as part of development processes
Ensure compliance with safeguarding and safer recruitment practices
Assist in HR reporting, including absence and turnover data analysis
Any other appropriate task that may be required and deemed appropriate by your line manager or executive team
Requirements:
CIPD Level 5 qualification (or working towards it) is desirable
Previous experience in an HR role, ideally in an education setting is essential
Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices is desirable
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
Experience handling employee relations matters
