Human Factors Engineering is responsible for a holistic development of Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) for all relevant operators workstations within Military Air platforms, e.g. cockpits, flight decks, mission consoles and ground control stations. Human-machine interface Design aims at designing the best interface between people and their activities using the best technologies, the best User Interface principles and the best 'design and validation' methodologies such as prototyping methods They also contribute to the safety demonstration and certification of the systems aspects. This purpose is resulting from the application of engineering knowledge and User Interface design knowledge and methods all along the Products/Services life cycle.
Job Responsibility:
Workstations design (cockpits, flight decks, mission consoles and ground control stations), including the definition of geometry, layout and furnishing
HMI Design and multimodal interaction: Control Units, indicators and displays and moding (Graphical User Interface), interaction means
Application of end-to-end HFE process along systems life cycle from early analysis during concept definitions up to entry into service
Mission analysis, task analysis, ergonomic analysis, workload analysis and Human Error Analysis
HMI prototyping, both HW and SW, according to system development phase, e.g. virtual models/simulations and physical mock-ups
Human Factors V&V: User centered design reviews, demonstrations, validation and testing
