We are seeking a dedicated HSE Trainee Intern that is currently a junior or senior enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Environmental, Health, and Safety Management. This opportunity is ideal for students pursuing a degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety Management who are eager to apply their academic knowledge in a professional, real-world environment.
Job Responsibility:
Inspects machines and equipment for accident prevention devices
Observes workers to determine use of prescribed safety equipment, i.e., hard hats, safety goggles, steel toe boots, etc. and make sure workers are in compliance with safety rules and procedures
Inspects specified areas for fire-prevention equipment and other safety and first-aid supplies
Becomes a Shipyard Competent Person (SCP)
Assists with the investigations of incidents to determine a cause and suggest prevention methods
Assists with safety meetings and trainings
Maintains training records
Will learn and become familiar with the facility safety program
Must follow all Company policies and procedures, including those relative to employee safety, environmental policy, and the principles of our quality system
Other duties assigned or requested by Management
Works overtime as required
Reports to work daily and on time
Requirements:
Must be currently a junior or senior enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Environmental, Health, and Safety Management
Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
Basic proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar engineering software is a plus
Strong interpersonal skills, a proactive attitude, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
