Job Description

We are currently seeking a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager to join our team, based at our Volos Plant, overseeing all METLEN HSE operations in the Magnissia area. At METLEN Energy & Metals, we are catalysts for a sustainable future, positioned at the forefront of the energy transition while being a reference point for competitive green metallurgy at both the European and global levels.

Job Responsibility

  • Maintain and improve HSE policies in line with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001
  • Ensure compliance with Greek/EU legislation on environmental protection, occupational health & safety, and industrial risk
  • Manage permitting for material handling, environmental impact, CO₂ emissions, and greenhouse gas allowances
  • Implement HSE and ESG plans across all Volos sites
  • Harmonize HSE systems while adapting to site-specific needs
  • Develop and test emergency response plans for hazardous incidents
  • Train and resource plant staff and contractors
  • Manage departmental budgets and monitor HSE KPIs
  • Participate in corporate HSE committees
  • Liaise with authorities, licensing bodies, and certification organizations
  • Facilitate inspections, audits, and regulatory submissions
  • Monitor and report on HSE and ESG performance, including environmental metrics, LTI rates, and CO₂ footprint
  • Provide regular compliance and risk updates to management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Metallurgical, Environmental)
  • 5+ years of HSE experience, preferably in metallurgy or heavy industry
  • Strong knowledge of legislation, ISO systems, and ESG compliance
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills
  • Fluency in Greek and English (postgraduate specialization is a plus).
