Gates is a leading manufacturer of application-specific fluid power and power transmission solutions. The HSE Manager is the primary contact for all Health, Safety and Environmental matters onsite at the Dumfries location.
Job Responsibility:
Primary contact for all Health, Safety and Environmental matters onsite
Ensure all operational systems and procedures adhere to ISO 9000 and ISO/TS16949 standards and any other established company or industry quality standards
Maintain compliance with ISO14001, ISO18000, ISO50001, Environmental and Health & Safety accreditation
Maintain and review HSE policies to ensure the company is compliant with all relevant health, safety, environmental legislation and corporate policy
Prepare and report on site KPI’s relating to e.g. accidents, incidents, risks and statistics
Internal day to day with local team and site managers
Liaise with the enforcing authorities, develop and maintain a good working relationship with them
As the Management Representative onsite for ISO 14001, OHSAS 45001/PPC, be responsible for developing and updating policies in line with these standards
Support the DOFO and Operations Manager and wider teams in effective operation of the ISO 50001 standard
Review onsite training material and where necessary conduct basic awareness training in relevant health, safety and environmental matters for all employees
Ensure the safe evacuation of all personnel in any major incident and assist in the investigation to establish the cause and prevent a recurrence
Requirements:
5-7 years of experience
Must have Diploma in Safety and Environmental Management
Must have a proven track record and comparable industrial experience of a Senior HS&E function
Must have experience of HSE management systems which comply with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 45001
Full member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and health (IOSH)
Must be competent in auditing skills
Able communicator with all levels in the organisation both oral and written
Positive proactive attitude to all relevant health, safety and environmental matters and a practical approach to solutions
Ability to design and carry out basic HSE&E training for all staff and hourly paid employees
