Job Description

A leading international food manufacturing business and trusted brand with a presence in 4 continents and over 80 countries, is seeking an experienced Environment, Health, Safety & Hygiene Manager to join its Rotterdam operation. This is a key site-based role responsible for driving health, safety, environmental compliance and hygiene excellence across a busy production facility. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of the full EHS and Hygiene agenda, working closely with site leadership to embed a proactive safety culture and ensure the highest standards of compliance and operational discipline. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced EHS professional who wants to play a visible and influential role within a growing international food manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Ensure all HSE policies, procedures and regulations are adhered to, regularly reviewed and effectively communicated
  • Monitor and track EHS compliance across the plant, escalating deviations and ensuring corrective actions are implemented
  • Stay updated on relevant statutory requirements and ensure full compliance with local regulations
  • Support and lead internal and external EHS audits, providing accurate reporting and documentation
  • Drive EHS initiatives including safety campaigns, wellbeing programmes and engagement activities to promote a strong safety culture
  • Conduct routine site inspections of safety infrastructure (fire exits, alarms, first aid kits, signage etc.)
  • Deliver and coordinate safety training programmes including fire drills, PPE training and first aid sessions
  • Lead accident, incident and near-miss investigations, ensuring robust reporting and preventative action
  • Liaise with local authorities where required and manage related reporting
  • Ensure all personnel adhere to personal hygiene standards and PPE requirements
  • Promote and maintain the highest standards of hygiene across all site areas
  • Manage third-party hygiene and pest control contractors, ensuring contractual compliance and performance standards
  • Lead fumigation activities, ensuring safe and controlled execution
  • Conduct risk assessments with Production and Warehouse teams, developing and implementing mitigation plans
  • Perform internal hygiene audits and ensure readiness for statutory and external audits with zero non-conformances
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance to ensure 100% product safety

Requirements

  • Proven experience in an EHS role within food manufacturing or FMCG
  • Strong understanding of EU HSE legislation and compliance requirements
  • Experience managing hygiene and pest control within a production environment
  • Audit-ready mindset with strong attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation
