HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) Officer - Utility Scale BESS Project - Victoria, Australia - $Excellent Day Rate - 18 Month Contract - March/April Start Date - 2 & 1 or 3 & 1 Rotation (FIFO). An international engineering organisation delivering large-scale battery energy storage projects across Australia, are seeking an experienced HSE Officer to support a utility-scale BESS project based in Victoria. This is an excellent opportunity to join a technically complex project environment with a collaborative delivery team and long-term project pipeline across multiple Australian regions. You will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment and that the project adheres to all HSE regulations and standards. Your role will be key in maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental protection during the project lifecycle.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide day-to-day HSE leadership across construction and installation activities
  • Ensure compliance with Australian safety legislation and site procedures
  • Support contractor oversight and safe execution of balance-of-plant works
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and incident investigations
  • Promote a proactive safety culture across multiple stakeholders
  • Facilitate toolbox talks and safety briefings
  • Act as a calm and solutions-focused interface between client and contractors

Requirements:

  • Proven HSE experience on large infrastructure, power, renewables, or industrial projects
  • Strong understanding of Australian WHS regulations
  • Experience working alongside EPC or balance-of-plant contractors
  • Ability to manage conflict professionally and de-escalate site challenges
  • Confident communicator with practical, solutions-driven mindset
  • Technical credibility without ego - collaborative team approach essential
