As an experienced HR Business Partner, you will act as a trusted advisor to leaders across our London office, supporting organisational design, workforce planning and team effectiveness in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. You’ll bring a data-driven and commercially grounded approach to people decisions, balancing risk, performance and long-term impact. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will drive performance, strengthen leadership accountability and help shape a high-performing, values-led culture aligned with Optiver’s global priorities.
Job Responsibility:
Partner with leaders on organisational design, workforce planning and team effectiveness
Support performance and compensation cycles, bringing analytical rigour to calibration and talent decisions
Use people data and analytics to identify trends and provide actionable insights to senior stakeholders
Lead complex employee relations cases, ensuring fairness, consistency and compliance with UK employment law
Coach managers to address performance issues early and maintain high standards
Oversee sensitive contractual matters, including non-compete management
Support onboarding and exit processes, using insights to improve retention and employee experience
Drive the London engagement agenda, translating survey and exit data into measurable actions
Facilitate leadership discussions that balance performance, accountability and culture
Act as the UK subject matter expert on employment law and HR practices
Partner with Legal and Compliance on policy development and governance
Contribute to global People initiatives and cross-regional projects
Explore opportunities to leverage data, automation and AI to improve HR effectiveness
Provide day-to-day leadership and development support to the HR Generalist
Requirements:
6+ years of progressive HR experience, including in a strategic HRBP or HR Manager role
Experience in trading or financial services preferred, ideally in a fast-paced environment
Experience managing or mentoring at least one direct report preferred
Strong knowledge of UK employment law and experience handling complex employee relations matters
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into practical insights
Confident advising and constructively challenging senior stakeholders
Strong commercial judgement, balancing risk, fairness and business priorities
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
Intellectually curious, solutions-focused and commercially minded
Calm, credible and confident in sensitive situations
Able to hold leaders accountable while building trust
Adaptable and comfortable working in a continuously evolving environment
