Our client is seeking an HR Specialist with a strong background in ADA compliance and the reasonable accommodation process. This individual will support employees and managers by guiding them through accommodations, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and maintaining a positive and supportive employee experience.
Job Responsibility:
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee accommodation requests under the ADA
Manage the end‑to‑end accommodation process, including intake, interactive discussions, documentation, approvals, and follow‑up
Communicate with employees, managers, HR business partners, and healthcare providers to gather necessary information and determine appropriate accommodations
Ensure all recommendations and decisions comply with ADA, FMLA, state laws, and internal policies
Maintain accurate, confidential records and case files
Provide guidance to leaders on accommodation best practices and compliance requirements
Track case progress, deadlines, and required documentation using HRIS or case management tools
Identify trends and recommend process improvements
Support additional HR compliance functions as needed (leave management, return‑to‑work, policy communication, etc.)
Requirements:
2–4+ years of HR experience with direct involvement in ADA or leave of absence processes
Strong understanding of ADA, FMLA, and related federal/state regulations
Excellent communication skills—ability to navigate sensitive or confidential conversations with professionalism and empathy
Strong organizational and time‑management skills
capable of managing multiple cases simultaneously
Ability to interpret medical documentation and make informed recommendations
Proficiency in HRIS systems, MS Office, and case management tools
Nice to have:
Experience in a mid-size or large organization with volume accommodation cases
HR certification (PHR, SHRM‑CP) is a plus
Experience in occupational health, disability management, or workers’ compensation programs
