We are seeking a seasoned and proactive HR Manager with in-depth knowledge of employee relations to join our Human Resources team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fostering a positive workplace culture, resolving complex employee issues, ensuring compliance with California employment regulations, and advising management on HR best practices. This is a strategic role that requires excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and a deep understanding of employment law within the state.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and manage employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, grievances, and conflict resolution
Ensure compliance with California labor laws, wage and hour regulations, and company policies
Advise managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and applicable legal issues
Develop and implement employee relations strategies that support a positive workplace culture
Oversee performance management processes, including coaching managers through performance improvement plans
Monitor legislative and regulatory changes in California labor law and update policies accordingly
Maintain thorough documentation of employee relations issues and outcomes in compliance with legal standards
Conduct regular training for supervisors and managers on HR policies, conflict resolution, and state labor law updates
Collaborate with legal counsel when necessary for high-risk or complex issues
Support HR initiatives such as employee engagement, retention strategies, and workforce planning
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
Bilingual Spanish highly preferred
Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience with at least 2 years in a managerial or employee relations role
Expert knowledge of California labor laws, employment practices, and compliance standards
Strong conflict resolution, mediation, and investigation skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage sensitive situations with tact and confidentiality
Proficient in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification preferred
