This is a hands‑on role where the consultant will step in to stabilize benefits processing, maintain compliance with state requirements, and ensure smooth communication between employees, HR staff, payroll, and the State of Tennessee.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee and process all State of Tennessee employee benefits forms, documentation, and reporting requirements
Ensure timely submission of enrollment changes, eligibility updates, terminations, and compliance-related benefits filings
Serve as the primary point of contact between the organization and the State of Tennessee Benefits Administration
Review existing benefits workflows and ensure accuracy and continuity during the interim period
Partner with HR, payroll, and internal department leaders to resolve benefits questions and support employees through benefit-related changes
Maintain documentation and audit trails for all benefits submissions
Requirements:
Prior experience managing State of Tennessee employee benefits forms and reporting (required)
Background working in a higher education environment or similarly structured public‑sector organization strongly preferred
Experience with State of Tennessee Edison human resource system is mandatory
Demonstrated success supporting mid‑ to large‑sized workforces (1,500–2,000+ employees)
Strong understanding of benefits compliance, eligibility rules, and state‑mandated timelines
Ability to step into a hands‑on, fast‑moving environment and quickly stabilize day‑to‑day operations
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially with HR teams, payroll, and state agencies
