Our client in the retail sector is looking for an HR Lead to join their team on a 12-month contract. This is a unique opportunity to act as a hands-on generalist, driving human resource related operations including staffing, training, and labor relations. As the HR Team Lead, you will be a vital partner to site leadership, ensuring that the workforce is engaged, productive, and aligned with global organizational values.

  • Labor Relations Expertise: This role requires a professional with a strong background in unionized environments, specifically managing collective bargaining agreements, grievance resolutions, and maintaining positive labor-management relations
  • Comprehensive Talent Management: You will oversee the full talent lifecycle, from high-volume hourly recruitment and salaried hiring to internal learning programs and succession planning—all through a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Compliance & Risk Mitigation: You will be responsible for ensuring all site operations remain in strict alignment with federal and provincial employment laws, partnering with legal counsel as needed to mitigate organizational risk

Requirements

  • Proven experience operating in a unionized environment, including negotiations and grievance handling
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive employee relations and navigate complex labor relations issues
  • CHRP or CPHR designation is strongly preferred
  • Deep understanding of Canadian federal and provincial employment laws

What we offer

  • Fixed-term 12-month contract offering stability with the potential for extension based on business needs
  • Collaborative team culture that values diversity, equity, and inclusions
