We are looking for an experienced HR Generalist to join our team on a contract basis in Los Angeles, California. In this role, you will provide critical support to the Human Resources department, focusing on compliance, employee relations, and strategic HR initiatives. Job Responsibility:
Collaborate with HR leadership to support strategic departmental initiatives and upper-level functions
Lead audits, prepare reports, and manage compliance training programs to ensure alignment with regulations and best practices
Address and resolve employee complaints, including matters related to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and policy violations
Conduct thorough and impartial workplace investigations, adhering to California employment laws and organizational policies
Partner with leadership and legal counsel to implement corrective actions and preventive measures
Manage sensitive employee separations, layoffs, and terminations in compliance with California laws and organizational policies
Prepare and review termination documentation, including severance agreements, final pay requirements, and unemployment guidance
Assist with the administration of severance agreements, ensuring compliance with legal requirements such as waiting periods and revocation timelines
Provide guidance and support to leadership on handling employee exits compassionately and in compliance with legal standards
Requirements:
Proven experience in employee relations and HR administration within California
Strong knowledge of California employment laws and compliance requirements
Proficiency in HRIS systems and other HR-related software
Ability to manage onboarding processes and benefit functions effectively
Demonstrated ability to handle complex investigations and resolve sensitive workplace issues
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with leadership and employees
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage documentation and reporting
Nice to have:
Experience in the non-profit industry is preferred but not required
