We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist with strong benefits and leave administration expertise to join our nonprofit organization on a contract basis. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is detail-oriented, and has hands-on experience supporting employees through HR operations, FMLA, and compliance processes.
Job Responsibility:
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions related to benefits, FMLA, and leave of absence requests
Administer employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement plans, ensuring accurate enrollment and timely updates
Guide employees and managers through the FMLA process, ADA accommodations, and short/long-term disability claims, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws
Maintain accurate and confidential HR records, benefits documentation, and leave tracking within HRIS systems
Collaborate with payroll to ensure proper benefits deductions and adjustments
Manage onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring smooth employee transitions
Partner with managers to provide guidance on HR policies, employee relations, and compliance requirements
Support internal audits, reporting requirements, and policy updates as needed
Contribute to HR projects and initiatives that foster a positive workplace culture and employee experience
Requirements:
3–5 years of HR Generalist experience with a focus on benefits and leave administration
Strong knowledge of FMLA, ADA, COBRA, HIPAA, and related employment laws
Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
