Robert Half is partnering with a leading Construction company to identify an experienced HR Generalist to support their San Mateo branch operations. This position reports directly to an HR Manager based at corporate headquarters in Seattle and will serve as the key HR presence for the Bay Area team. Job Responsibility:
Lead full-cycle recruiting for exempt, non-exempt, student, and temporary staff across multiple sourcing channels, ensuring a strong candidate experience and efficient hiring process
Manage onboarding activities to create a seamless transition for new hires
Support the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and best practices
Oversee performance management programs and recommend improvements as needed
Administer employee benefits, including claims resolution, reporting changes, invoice approvals, and employee communications
Maintain accurate HR records, regulatory filings, and compliance reporting, including EEO-1 submissions
Facilitate new hire orientation and employee engagement initiatives
Partner with managers to strengthen performance, provide coaching, and foster a high-performance culture
Address employee relations matters, including counseling, conflict resolution, exit interviews, and outplacement support
Maintain HRIS data, generate reports, and analyze workforce metrics for strategic decision-making
Ensure compliance with federal and California employment laws and regulations
Manage vendor relationships, budgets, and contracts tied to recruiting, training, and benefits providers
Oversee training and development programs to support employee growth and business success
Execute additional HR initiatives and projects as assigned
Requirements:
A bachelor's degree and 3 years of Human Resources experience, OR A master's degree in Human Resources Management and 1 year of experience in the HR field, OR 6 years of experience in the HR field, OR any similar combination of education and experience
HR Certification (PHR or SHRM-CP) required
Ability to apply the principles and practices of human resource management to contribute to the success of the business
Core bodies of knowledge are employment, human resource development, total rewards, risk management, HR technology knowledge, and employee relations
Strong analytical and negotiation skills
Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects with initiative
Ability to stimulate enthusiasm and commitment in others to accomplish common objectives
Ability to learn quickly
maintain professional demeanor in stressful situations, demonstrating service, courtesy and efficiency
Must have 2+ years of HRIS experience
Must be proficient MS Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Excel and Word
Previous experience and strong working knowledge in professional services or construction industry is preferred
Experience working with labor unions preferred
